Cheltenham Ladies’ College – Spring Concert 2019
The programme will open with three concerto movements performed by senior music scholars in their final year at College. The Symphony Orchestra will conclude the first half with Beethoven Symphony No. 5; and the 2nd half of the concert will feature Mozart’s Requiem, sung by CLC’s Choral Society.
The Symphony Orchestra, comprising girls from across the age range at the College, plays with verve and a real sense of energy – so apt for Beethoven’s most famous symphony. Members of the orchestra will be joined by professional musicians, to accompany the singers in Mozart’s remarkable Requiem. CLC’s Choral Society is a community choir, comprising parents, members of staff and girls. Recent performances have included Fauré Requiem; Time and Eternity by Dominic Hawley; Handel Chandos Anthem No.9, and Saint-Saëns Petite Messe Solenelle. The concert will be conducted by the College’s Director of Music, Dominic Hawley, who has directed the chorus and orchestra for almost 20 years.
Following the huge success of last year’s concert, Cheltenham Ladies’ College returns to the Pump Room for its Spring Concert in March 2019
Breathtaking, unique and radiating regency refinement, Pittville Pump Room is monument to the more than 100 years of fame Cheltenham enjoyed as a Spa town, and perhaps the most famous example of regency architecture in the area.
