The Cheltenham Philharmonic Orchestra are delighted to welcome back Marcel Zidani to play Grieg’s ever popular piano concerto following Marcel’s dazzling performance of Rhapsody in Blue with the orchestra last year. Our concert starts with Brahms’ dark, turbulent and moody Tragic Overture and finishes with the chance to hear a rare performance of the Brahms Piano Quartet No.1 arranged for full orchestra by Schoenberg. Schoenberg had a close connection to Brahms. This connection is reflected in his imaginative and expansive reimagining of piano quartet. The orchestra look forward to welcoming you to a wonderful afternoon of music in the gorgeous surroundings of Pittville Pump Room.

Breathtaking, unique and radiating regency refinement, Pittville Pump Room is monument to the more than 100 years of fame Cheltenham enjoyed as a Spa town, and perhaps the most famous example of regency architecture in the area.
