Fleeing Hitler, Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff arrived in New York to discover a wealth of largely unappreciated music created by black musicians. Fascinated by the cutting-edge richness of these sounds, the two white Germans established Blue Note Records in 1939 to champion the likes of Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane, and went on to create one of the greatest recorded music legacies of the 20th century. This amazing film traces the story of the label also responsible for some of the most schwinging record cover art in history.
Terrific documentary about the iconic jazz label, Blue Note.
