In their second English Celebration concert the CSO brings you that gentle conjuring of pastoral England, Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending, played here by the rising star, violinist Savitri Grier. Then two works from Elgar, his Cockaigne overture (in London Town) and his 1st Symphony, a work first performed in 1908. The adagio is some of Elgar’s most sublime music.
