For fifteen years, pianist James Lisney’s Masterworks has proved a highlight of Cheltenham’s classical programme, collaborating with distinguished artists as the Allegri Quartet, Dame Emma Kirkby and James Gilchrist.
This evening’s programme features a new generation of musicians: Joy Lisney is well known to Cheltenham audiences; Emma Lisney makes her Masterworks debut with music by Beethoven, Ravel and Bartok.
I have nothing but praise for James Lisney’s piano playing; he combines velvet touch and wide range of colour with a complete understanding of phrasing and dynamic shading. This is someone who can really give the mechanical box of wires and wood a singing soul -The Telegraph
Masterworks presents the finest chamber music in performances by internationally recognised artists.
Breathtaking, unique and radiating regency refinement, Pittville Pump Room is monument to the more than 100 years of fame Cheltenham enjoyed as a Spa town, and perhaps the most famous example of regency architecture in the area.
