Misshapes: The Making of Tatty Devine
Saturday 7th September – Sunday 3rd November 2019
The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum
Tatty Devine’s statement jewellery is always ahead of the curve telling stories and generating conversation. Founders Rosie Wolfenden and Harriet Vine set up a market stall in Spitalfields Market in the late 90’s. Together they challenged jewellery conventions and invested in a laser cutting machine, going on to create personality-packed jewellery much loved and still culturally relevant 20 years on. The exhibition will feature over 200 pieces of their work from the past 20 years – from the early leather cuffs that landed the work of the design duo in the pages of Vogue to giant two metre versions of iconic Tatty Devine pieces including a lobster, magpies and a huge banana, alongside sketchbooks, ephemera and two new films.
