Swedish Philharmonia – March 2020

Swedish Philharmonia – March 2020
As one of Scandinavia’s leading orchestras, the Swedish Philharmonia has developed an international reputation. We’re delighted to welcome them to Cheltenham, along with one of the world’s greatest violinists, Viktoria Mullova.

The programme begins with Mendelssohn’s Reformation Symphony, with its elegiac slow movement and its famous Dresden amen, followed by Mullova’s performance of Prokofiev’s ethereal 2nd violin concerto. The concert ends with a rousing performance of Sibelius’ magnificent 5th Symphony, complete with its famous, exultant finale and haunting horn theme, said to be inspired by Sibelius witnessing a group of swans majestically taking flight.

Pre-Concert Talk (6.30pm to 7pm): Featuring Malin Gjorup (the orchestra’s Music Director) and Jaime Martin.

Free entry using your ticket for the concert.

Please note there is a £2 ticket commission fee included in the price of the ticket.
