Oxford Philomusica’s return to Cheltenham Hall offers the audience a feast of orchestral classics. The evening will commence with Prokofiev’s popular Symphony No. 1, a neo-classical masterpiece inspired by the compositional style of Haydn, after which the orchestra will be joined by the mesmerising young cellist Natalie Clein for a performance of Saint-Saëns’ virtuosic Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor. The evening will end with the superb musicians of Oxford’s professional symphony orchestra bringing to life the emotional drama of Tchaikovsky’s melodious fourth Symphony.
