Bristol Classical Players – Jennifer Pike plays Elgar

Elgar Violin Concerto
Vaughan Williams A London Symphony
Former BBC Young Musician of the Year Jennifer Pike joins Bristol Classical Players for Elgar’s Violin Concerto, which Elgar himself said was “Awfully emotional! Too emotional, but I love it”! The concert opens with a rhapsody based on Somerset folksongs by Cheltenham’s own Gustav Holst and is completed by Vaughan Williams’s bustling and affectionate portrait of London. Although born in Gloucestershire, he spent much of his life living in London and always considered this ‘Symphony by a Londoner,’ as he called it, his own favourite.
